UTTARAKHAND: A video of a Congress MLA from Uttarakhand shouting slogans in support of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has gone viral on social media, sparking political debate. The Congress party says that an MLA is a public representative, and the CM represents the entire state. So, it’s natural for an MLA to seek the CM’s support to get work done in their area. On the other hand, the BJP claims that even the opposition leaders have now started admiring CM Dhami. The viral video features Congress MLA Madan Bisht from Almora district. In the video, he’s seen encouraging people to chant slogans in support of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami. Praising the CM’s development work, Bisht says he has no issue in appreciating good work. He even got the crowd to chant, “Zindabad CM Dhami!” This video is said to be from Choukutia in Almora, where CM Dhami had come to inaugurate the Chaitra Ashtami fair at the Agneri temple. Congress MLA Madan Bisht was also present at the event. While addressing the gathering, Bisht praised the CM, saying he doesn’t discriminate when it comes to development work. In the video, he can be heard clearly saying that he has no objection in raising slogans for the CM. Congress later clarified that the MLA raised slogans only to ensure that issues in his constituency get addressed by the state leadership. Many other Congress MLAs have openly praised CM Dhami in the past too, which has sometimes put the party in a tough spot.
BJP, meanwhile, called the viral video a reflection of a developing Uttarakhand. They also took a dig at former CM Harish Rawat and said even he can’t ignore the visible progress. They welcomed the Congress MLA’s praise for the CM and said it’s hard to overlook the good work being done in the state. According to the BJP, under the guidance of PM Modi and the leadership of CM Dhami, the double-engine government is rapidly pushing Uttarakhand towards progress. They added that now, no amount of negative politics can slow down this pace. Many Congress MLAs have started to realize this, which is why several of them have publicly appreciated CM Dhami before, and this slogan-chanting is just the latest example. The BJP also took this opportunity to target Harish Rawat, saying that he should have talked to his party MLAs about the state’s development before making public statements. They pointed out that many of the questions he’s been raising through his so-called protests could’ve been answered by speaking to his own party members. BJP advised him to learn a lesson in positive politics from his fellow MLAs who are acknowledging the state’s progress. They also sarcastically commented that turning a blind eye or deaf ear won’t hide the truth—because, in the end, the public knows everything.
