Dehradun: Dehradun police have solved the case of a cab robbery that took place after the vehicle was brought from Panipat, Haryana. Within 24 hours, the police arrested four criminals involved in the crime. It was revealed that the stolen car was intended to be used for carrying out a major crime in Dehradun. According to Raipur police station, on March 23, Imran Ahmed from Ghaziabad, UP, filed a complaint stating that he drives a taxi owned by Shiv Kumar Gupta. On March 22, he received a booking via Uber to transport two passengers from Panipat, Haryana, to Raipur, Dehradun. Upon reaching Raipur, the passengers held him at gunpoint, stole his car, and fled the scene. Following the complaint, the police launched a search operation and arrested four suspects near Ghauda Factory Balawala. The accused, identified as Deepak Malik, Raunak Gehlawat, Vinay Kumar, and Dharmveer, are all residents of Haryana, and the stolen vehicle was recovered from them.
During interrogation, Deepak Malik and Raunak revealed that they were called to Dehradun by Dharmveer and Vinay, who were already staying in the city. The duo had asked them to bring a pistol along as part of a plan to commit a major crime. Their plan was to hijack a cab upon arrival, use it for the crime, and escape afterward. Dharmveer and Vinay further disclosed that loan sharking is a highly profitable business in Dehradun, offering a return of 10-15% interest. They mentioned that their associates, Devendra Kumar Sharma alias Sonu Bharadwaj and Harish Sharma alias Monu Bharadwaj, had amassed significant wealth through this business. Both brothers had previously been jailed for a murder case in the Raipur area, with one currently out on bail. The arrested individuals admitted that they planned to use the looted money to establish a money-lending business in Dehradun. To execute their plan, Dharmveer and Vinay summoned their two accomplices from Haryana to carry out a major robbery in the city.
