Dhami Government Marks Three Years: Are These Events Hinting at a Major Political Shift?

Uttarakhand: The Dhami government in Uttarakhand is celebrating its three-year milestone with a series of events under the theme of service, good governance, and development. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been actively engaging with the public, highlighting the achievements of his government over the past three years. While the celebrations continue, a big question on everyone’s mind is—when will the government take its new shape? Ever since the resignation of Premchand Agarwal, five cabinet positions have been left vacant, resulting in several key departments falling under CM Dhami’s direct supervision. This has fueled ongoing speculation about a cabinet expansion. However, after returning from Delhi recently, CM Dhami put an end to the rumors, stating that no discussions on cabinet expansion took place during his visit. His statement has left many hopeful MLAs, who saw themselves in the race for a ministerial post, feeling uncertain. Despite this, many legislators still believe that an expansion is inevitable—it’s just a matter of when, who will be lucky enough to get a post, and whose position might be at risk. Meanwhile, political observers are analyzing the visuals emerging from the government’s anniversary events, looking for clues.

The first major event took place at the CM’s residence, where Dhami addressed the media. Interestingly, only a few MLAs—Khajan Das from Dehradun’s Rajpur, Mahant Dilip Rawat from Lansdowne, and Rajkumar Pori from Pauri—were seen with him. This has sparked speculation that one of them could be given an important role. Another noticeable absence was state BJP president Mahendra Bhatt, which caught the attention of opposition leaders. Additionally, the lack of presence of prominent MPs and ministers in the press conference raised further questions. Later, at CM Dhami’s roadshow, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal was seen participating, while at the main event at Dehradun’s Parade Ground, several senior leaders, including Khajan Das, Umesh Sharma Kau, Vinod Chamoli, Munna Singh Chauhan, Savita Kapoor, and Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, shared the stage. Some ministers were seen attending events in different districts, but the overall absence of big names has intensified discussions about the future shape of the Dhami government. Many believe that significant changes are on the horizon and that new faces could be inducted into the cabinet soon. Political circles are abuzz with speculation that major reshuffles could be in store for Uttarakhand’s leadership in the coming days.
