
Tragic Accidents on Holi in Uttarakhand: Car Falls Into Gorge in Chakrata, Fire Breaks Out in Restaurant
A heartbreaking incident was reported from Chakrata, Dehradun, on Holi. A car lost control and plunged 900 meters down a deep gorge near Lokhandi, carrying four passengers. Unfortunately, two people lost their lives on the spot, while the other two were rescued and rushed to the hospital. According to SDRF (State Disaster Response Force), the accident occurred on the Bundel Road near Lokhandi when an Alto car went off the road and fell into the steep valley. As soon as authorities received the distress call, a rescue team was dispatched. The joint rescue operation, carried out by SDRF and local police, managed to pull two injured survivors from the wreckage and send them to the hospital. Sadly, the other two passengers succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The deceased were identified as Prakash (32), son of Tolu, and Guddu (33), son of Nandiya, both from Levra village, Chakrata tehsil. The injured survivors, Gajendra (28) and Sheru (29), were also from the same village.

Meanwhile, in Vikasnagar’s Badamwala area, chaos erupted when a restaurant caught fire on Holi. Locals rushed to inform the police as flames quickly engulfed the establishment. Fire department officials arrived in time and managed to control the blaze, but by then, the entire restaurant was reduced to ashes. According to initial reports, the fire was allegedly started by miscreants, though investigations are still underway. No casualties were reported, but the incident caused significant property damage. These tragic events cast a shadow over Holi celebrations in Uttarakhand, reminding everyone of the importance of safety during festivities.
