National Games 2024: Rowing Championship Concludes with Thrilling Performances!
The 38th National Games Rowing Championship wrapped up on Wednesday with a spectacular finale. Held from February 3 to 5 at the Water Sports Complex in Koti Colony, Tehri, Uttarakhand, the event witnessed fierce competition and outstanding performances. Teams from Madhya Pradesh and Services dominated the championship, securing multiple gold medals.
Madhya Pradesh Shines in Group A Finals
Madhya Pradesh put up a stellar show in the Group A finals, winning the most gold medals in the tournament.
- In the lightweight women’s double sculls event, Poonam and Rukmani from Madhya Pradesh claimed gold with a timing of 07:51.96 minutes.
- Khushpreet Kaur secured gold in the women’s single sculls, clocking 08:40.35 minutes.
- The men’s coxless pair sculls event saw Manmohan and Bhim Singh from Madhya Pradesh winning gold with a timing of 07:11.40 minutes.
- In the women’s coxless four sculls event, Kerala’s team—comprising Rose Maria Joshi, Varsha, Ashwathi, and Meenakshi—clinched gold with a timing of 07:33.18 minutes.
- Haryana also made its mark as Suman Devi and Kiran secured gold in the women’s double sculls event with a timing of 07:52.9 minutes.
Services Team Dominates Group B Finals
The Services team displayed incredible skill and determination, making a clean sweep in the Group B finals.
- In the lightweight men’s double sculls event, Ujjwal Kumar and Ajay Tyagi from Services won gold with a timing of 06:43.80 minutes.
- Balraj Panwar secured the top position in the men’s single sculls event, finishing in 07:26.68 minutes.
- The men’s coxless four sculls event was dominated by Services’ team—Sunny Kumar, Iqbal Singh, Babulal Yadav, and Yogesh Kumar—who claimed gold with an impressive timing of 06:25.08 minutes.
- In the women’s quadruple sculls event, Madhya Pradesh’s team—featuring Santosh Yadav, Poonam, Khushpreet Kaur, and Rukmani—secured gold with a timing of 07:08.40 minutes.
