Rakesh Tikait Intervenes in Umesh Kumar-Pranav Singh Champion Conflict, Gurjar Community Calls for Mahapanchayat

UTTARAKHAND : The dispute between MLA Umesh Kumar and former MLA Pranav Singh Champion seems to be escalating with no sign of resolution. Now, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait has also entered the picture, claiming to mediate between the two leaders and has arrived in Haridwar to help resolve the issue. Tikait held a conversation with the wife of former MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion, Rani Devyani, with several members of the Gurjar community present at the meeting. Meanwhile, the Gurjar community has announced a Mahapanchayat (grand assembly). Gurjar leader Chaudhary Virendra Singh made the announcement in a video message, calling all members of the community to gather at Landohra Rang Mahal on February 5, where the Mahapanchayat will take place. Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait spoke out in Haridwar, criticizing the way social politics is being involved in the dispute between Umesh Kumar and Champion, calling it wrong. He emphasized that the goal is to bring about a reconciliation between the Gurjar and Brahmin communities, and that the fighting should come to an end.

Tikait clarified that this is a personal conflict between two political figures, not a social issue, and that there should be no communal tensions caused by this fight. Earlier, the Gurjar community had announced a Mahapanchayat on January 29, but it was postponed. Despite this, a large crowd gathered in Landohra. Now, Gurjar leaders are accusing the administration of breaking promises, and they are upset that Pranav Singh Champion hasn’t been granted bail, prompting another Mahapanchayat to be called. To recap, on Sunday, January 26, former MLA Pranav Singh Champion, along with his supporters, arrived at MLA Umesh Kumar’s office in Khanpur, where they engaged in a shooting incident. As soon as Umesh Kumar learned of this, he too arrived at the office, waving weapons. The police intervened and took both Champion and Umesh Kumar into custody. However, Champion was sent to jail, while Umesh Kumar was granted bail. Since then, the situation has only worsened.
