Sharda Corridor Development to Be Accelerated: CM Dhami

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting at Uttarakhand Sadan in New Delhi regarding the Sharda Corridor Project and directed officials to expedite its implementation. He instructed that a joint land survey for the project be conducted at the earliest. Additionally, a study should be carried out on landslide-prone areas within the corridor, and necessary protective measures should be implemented. As part of this project, a riverfront will be developed along the banks of the Sharda River to promote religious and cultural tourism. This will include beautification of ghats (riverbanks) and the provision of various facilities for tourists and devotees.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the primary goal of both the Sharda and Ganga Corridors is to boost religious tourism, strengthen the local economy, and provide better amenities to pilgrims. He stated that while both projects are focused on tourism and infrastructure, they will follow distinct design approaches. The Sharda Corridor will include various initiatives aimed at developing infrastructure, enhancing tourism, and improving the livelihoods of local communities. The meeting was attended by Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Resident Commissioner Ajay Mishra, and other senior officials.
