“Scammers Trap 150 People Using Girl’s Voice, Cheat ₹13 Lakh, and Record Nude Videos”

Indore:  People who enjoy chatting with unknown girls are falling victim to scams. Criminals are engaging in lewd conversations and emptying their pockets. Last year, 158 individuals reported fraud totaling ₹13 lakh These criminals use voice changer apps to communicate in a girl’s voice. The victims include students, businesspeople, and employees from private companies. Additional DCP (Crime) Rajesh Dandotia provided detailed information about the situation. Attractive Photos Lure Victims According to Dandotia, dating and chatting apps like Tinder, Bumble, Happn, Adventure Seeking, Badoo, Jooosk, Once, Huggle, The League, OkCupid, and Leslie are widely available on social media. Users are easily drawn in by attractive photos of girls and women, not realizing that they are actually talking to men using voice changer apps. After chatting for several days, the men begin to trust the scammers. They start sharing details about their families, friends, and daily lives. The scammers pretend to care and try to present themselves as good partners. The men feel they have found a great partner, but suddenly, the scammer becomes angry and accuses them of chatting with another woman, demanding the social media account login credentials.

This leads the victim to believe that the female friend genuinely cares about them, and they end up sharing all their information. The scammer initially asks for money by claiming a medical emergency. Then, during the conversation, they record inappropriate videos of the victim. The accused then threatens to upload these photos and videos to the victim’s account, demanding money in return. According to the Additional DCP, last year the cyber cell received 158 complaints, involving students, businesspeople, and shopkeepers. The total amount involved in these complaints is ₹13 lakh, though the police have managed to recover 37% of that amount. The police have advised people to stay alert and be cautious when communicating with unknown individuals on social media.  Cyber Criminals Posing as Crime Branch Officers After recording videos, fake crime branch officers call the victims, accusing them of making videos and sexual harassment with a woman. Fearing arrest and public shame, the victims often agree to pay money. As per the ADCP, many individuals do not file complaints even after losing money, due to the fear of reputational damage.
