Bodies of total 03 hardcore Maoists including IED Expert Mahesh recovered in Paliguda-Gundrajgudem encounter
Raipur: Maoist Mahesh who was killed in the encounter was the mastermind behind the incidents in Bedre in 2023 and Jagargunda area in 2024. The Maoists killed in the encounter were identified as PPCM Platoon No. 30 Deputy Commander Korsa Mahesh, Madvi Naveen alias Kosa ACM West Bastar, Alvam Bhima ACM Jonaguda. Hardcore Maoists with a bounty of Rs 18 lakh were among the killed Maoists. 02 BGL launchers, 01 12 bore rifle along with a large quantity of explosive material, Naxal literature and other daily useful items were recovered. ⚫️ Superintendent of Police Sukma Shri Kiran Chavan informed that on 08.01.2025, in an anti-Naxal search operation, a joint party of District Sukma DRG, STF and 203, 204, 206 208 CoBRA and 241, 131 CRPF left for Paliguda-Gundarajgudem area on the intelligence of the presence of top Maoists. ⚫️ During the operation on 09.01.2025 at around 08:00 am, an encounter started between security forces and Maoists in the jungle hill between village Paliguda-Gundarajgudem, which continued intermittently. ⚫️ After the end of the encounter, when all the teams searched, the bodies of 03 male hardcore Maoists were recovered along with weapons.
⚫️ Name and rank of Naxalites killed in the encounter:- 01. Korsa Mahesh, Platoon No. 30 Deputy Commander PPCM. (Formerly a member of PLGA Battalion No. 01) resident of West Bastar Bijapur area, reward of Rs. 8 lakhs. 02. Madvi Naveen alias Kosa ACM resident of West Bastar Bijapur, reward of Rs. 5 lakhs. 03. Avalam Bhima ACM resident of Jonaguda Police Station Jagargunda District Sukma, reward of Rs. 5 lakhs.
⚫️ Details of recovered weapons and Naxalite other material:- 01. 02 pieces of BGL launcher. 02. 01 piece of 12 bore gun. 03. 03 pieces of tiffin bomb. 04. 05 pieces of BGL cell. 05. Explosive material, Naxalite literature, daily useful items recovered in large quantities. ⚫️ The hardcore Maoist deputy commander killed, Korsa Mahesh, formerly an active member of PLGA Battalion No. 01, was an IED expert who was involved in many important incidents in the district. The major incidents are as follows:-
♦️ Incident of murder of CRPF Sub Inspector Sudhakar Reddy near Camp Bedre under Jagargunda police station area on 17.12.2023. ♦️ IED blast on CRPF truck near Timapuram between Silger-Tekalgudem under Jagargunda police station area on 23.06.2024, death of 02 CRPF jawans. ♦️ Incident of deadly attack on 02 policemen and looting of weapons in the weekly market of Jagargunda on 03.11.2024. ♦️ He was the mastermind behind planting IEDs to cause major damage to security forces near Gorgunda and Polampalli under Polampalli police station area on 28.12.2024.
⚫️ Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, Shri Sundarraj P. informed that maintaining the lead gained in the anti-Naxal operation in the year 2024, in the year 2025 also, as a result of effective anti-Naxal operation conducted by the security forces under Bastar division against the banned and illegal CPI Maoist organization, the bodies of a total of 08 hardcore Maoists were recovered in the last 06 days, despite all the conspiracies and cowardly actions of the Maoists, the security force members are dedicatedly working for the peace, security and development of the Bastar region with strong morale and clear goal.
