Chances of change in Chhattisgarh Samajwadi Party organization
Chhattisgarh: In view of the previous assembly elections in Chhattisgarh state, Samajwadi Party had made a big organizational change to strengthen its hold in the state politics. Samajwadi Party had decided to change the state president as part of its strategy to form an alliance with Congress at the center and give a walkover to Congress in the state. Under this change, Naveen Gupta was made the state president in place of Dr. Omprakash Sahu, but he failed to strengthen the party organization. Naveen Gupta’s tenure is being described as the most inactive tenure in the history of the party. Under his leadership, neither the state committee could be formed nor the organization could expand. Due to this, in view of the growing dissatisfaction in the party, National President Akhilesh Yadav decided to make changes in the organization.
Now again Dr. Omprakash Sahu has been instructed to prepare a list by forming new committees from the state office to the assembly and block level. Keeping in mind the upcoming civic elections in the state, the Samajwadi Party has given its new and old representatives the goal of expanding the organization as well as conveying the public anger arising from the insult of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar by the BJP to the people. The party has planned to launch a special campaign to strengthen the Backward, Dalit and Minority (PDA) alliance. Under the leadership of Dr. Omprakash Sahu, the party has issued instructions to prepare a list of presidents at the district and block level. As per the order of the National President, the Assembly and Block level committees have also been asked to prepare and submit the report soon. This organizational change and new guidelines of the Samajwadi Party have increased the stir in the politics of the state. The party hopes that with these efforts it will be able to perform better in the civic elections and strengthen its mass base.
