Two Young Men Burn to Death in Car Fire After Truck Collision
Ambikapur – A tragic accident occurred on Bhatti Road when two young men in a car were killed after their vehicle caught fire following a collision with a truck. The two were driving towards **Bilaspur** on Saturday afternoon when they reached the **Ambikapur-Bilaspur National Highway**, just past Chotia. A speeding truck coming from the opposite direction crashed into them. The impact was so severe that their car fell off the road and caught fire. The truck also ended up on top of the car, igniting it as well. The victims were **Shivam Singh**, 25, son of the late **Ishwar Singh**, and his friend **Vikas Lakda**, 26, son of Dharmadev Lakda**. They were driving a car with the registration number **CG 15 DU 2747** and were returning to Ambikapur after completing some work related to an Indian Oil petrol pump owned by Vikas in **Chathirma**.
Around 3:30 PM, while they were near the village of Lamna in the **Bangoo police station** area, they attempted to overtake a truck. Unfortunately, they collided head-on with another truck coming towards them. The crash was so intense that their car veered off the road and fell into a field. The truck then rolled over onto the car, causing both vehicles to catch fire. Shivam and Vikas tragically died inside the burning car. Upon receiving the news, the police quickly arrived at the scene, followed by a fire brigade that worked hard to extinguish the flames. Afterward, the bodies of the two young men were retrieved from the wreckage and sent to the hospital for post-mortem.
The incident has left their families in deep mourning. In a heartbreaking twist, just a month ago, Shivam’s father had passed away from a heart attack. He was employed in the veterinary department, and Shivam was set to receive a compassionate appointment in his place. Now, only Shivam’s mother and sister remain in their home. Vikas Lakda was also the only son in his family; his father is currently stationed in **Surajpur**. Both young men had one sister each, and their untimely deaths have devastated their families, who are now on their way to the accident site to claim the bodies.
