Earthquake Shakes Uttarakhand Early Morning
Early Saturday morning, residents in Uttarakhand felt strong tremors from an earthquake. The quake struck at 4 AM in the border districts of the state, causing panic among people in Pithoragarh and Champawat, who rushed out of their homes in fear. The earthquake shook the ground in these areas, leading to chaos as people scrambled to find safety in the freezing cold. After about 15 seconds, the tremors subsided, allowing everyone to breathe a sigh of relief. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries or damage to property.
According to Bhupendra Mahar, the district disaster management officer, the earthquake registered a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale.
