Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link Project will make Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan “Sujlam-Sufalam”: Prime Minister Modi

Bhopal : Prime Minister  Narendra Modi has said that the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link Project will make both Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan “Sujalam-Sufalam”. The Memorandum of Agreement signed here today between Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and the Central Government is not an ordinary Memorandum of Agreement, it will be remembered for many decades to come. For this, the governments of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan and the people of the state deserve congratulations. He expressed hope that the work on the project will continue without stopping and the project will be completed before time.

Prime Minister  Modi was addressing the tripartite agreement program of Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link Project and the completion of one year of the tenure of the Rajasthan Government in Jaipur on Tuesday. Union Water Power Minister C.R. Patil and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav were specially present. In the presence of Prime Minister Modi, the Memorandum of Agreement of the project was signed on behalf of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and the Central Government. Before this, Prime Minister Modi poured the water of the Kalash containing Chambal River water into a big Kalash. After this, he poured the water from the Kalash containing water from the Kalisindh river given by Chief Minister Dr. Yadav and the water from the Kalash containing water from the Parvati river given by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma into the same big Kalash.

Prime Minister Modi said that former Prime Minister Late  Atal Bihari Vajpayee had a vision of linking rivers and a special committee was also formed for it. The plan to link rivers was made but the previous governments kept it unnecessarily entangled. But our government works on the policy of dialogue, not conflict, but cooperation. As a result of this, the contract for the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link Project has been signed today. Under the project, Chambal and its tributary rivers Parvati, Kalisindh and Chambal will be linked. This will open new doors of development in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Prime Minister Modi said that by linking rivers, it is possible to solve both the problems of flood and drought. We understand the importance of water. Water is a philosopher’s stone, wherever it touches, it gives birth to new energy and power. It is the result of linking the waters of rivers that the Sabarmati river which had dried up completely, has become alive again today. Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link Project will provide sufficient water for irrigation and drinking water to both the states.

Prime Minister Modi said that under the leadership of Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil, a very big campaign of water conservation “Rain Water Harvesting” is being run in the country with public participation. Through this, every drop of rain water will be brought into the ground and the thirst of Mother Earth will be quenched. It is our duty to give “Sujlam Sufalam” to Mother Earth to the coming generation, it is the responsibility of every citizen to conserve water resources and to make meaningful use of every drop of water. We should take out time for water conservation in our daily routine. Join the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. This is respect for both our mother and Mother Earth.

Prime Minister  Modi gave a wonderful gift of development

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has said that this is a historic day for Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Due to the efforts of Prime Minister Modi, this project is taking a concrete shape after a long wait of 20 years. Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that like Bhagirath of the modern era, he has given a wonderful gift of development to Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh through this project. This is a unique project for the Chambal and Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav thanked Prime Minister Modi on the occasion of the MoA (agreement letter) of Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal river linking project in Jaipur on Tuesday and said that on the completion of one year of the current government of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, the Prime Minister himself has come to give a gift to the people of both the states.

90 percent amount for the project from the Center Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the importance of this project can be understood from the fact that the estimated cost of Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal link project is 72 thousand crores, in which Madhya Pradesh will spend 35 thousand crores and Rajasthan will spend 37 thousand crores. In this scheme of the Centre, 90% of the total cost will be Central share and 10% State share. The total water storage capacity of the project will be 1908.83 cubic metres. Also, 172 million cubic metres of water will be reserved for drinking water and industries. 21 dams/barrages will be constructed under the project. The project will provide adequate drinking water and irrigation facilities in entire western Madhya Pradesh including Sheopur, Bhind, Morena, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashok Nagar, Agar, Indore, Dhar, Ujjain, Shajapur, Rajgarh, Sehore etc. 3217 villages of the state will benefit from the project. 6 lakh 13 thousand 520 hectares will be irrigated in Malwa and Chambal region and drinking water will be available to a population of 40 lakhs.

Water will be provided as per the demand of farmers in Bhind, Morena and Sheopur districts through the modernization work of the approximately 60-year-old Chambal right main canal and distribution system. The total water storage capacity of the project will be 1908.83 cubic metres. In addition, 172 million cubic meters of water will be reserved for drinking water and industries. 21 dams/barrages will be constructed under the project.
