The murder of an elderly man in Alkananda Enclave, Dehradun on December 9th, had sent shockwaves through the community. The police had launched an investigation based on the complaint filed by the victim’s daughter. Now, the police have cracked the case and arrested the two accused from the Basant Vihar area of Dehradun. The Dehradun SSP revealed that the two accused, Naveen Kumar and Anant Jain, had initially visited the elderly man’s home to look for a rented room. They learned that the elderly man lived alone, and hatched a plan to rob him. The accused broke into the home, intending to scare the elderly man and take his money. However, when they realized he had no money and recognized them, they killed him. They used a paper cutter to commit the crime.
