Ambikapur: Utkarsh, a beneficiary of Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, shared his experience, electricity bill reduced, subsidy also received

Beneficiaries will get up to 300 units of free electricity through this scheme and will also get a source of income

Ambikapur 21 November 2024: To increase awareness about renewable energy sources and encourage the general public towards clean energy, the Government of India has started the “Pradhan Mantri-Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme”. Under the scheme, the government is trying to make every house a Surya Ghar and reduce the electricity bills of consumers to zero. Under this scheme, the target is to provide free electricity up to 300 units per month. Under this, on-grid solar rooftop plant is installed on the roof of the houses. Utkarsh Singh, a resident of Ambikapur, a beneficiary of this scheme, explains in detail that “I have installed a solar rooftop plant at home under the Suryaghar scheme in June 2024. This plant is of three kilowatts, the cost of which was around one lakh ninety thousand. The best thing is that under this scheme there is also a provision of subsidy to the beneficiary and I have also got a subsidy of Rs 78000.

For the last four months, since the net meter has been installed, the average bill is also coming down. Last month the electricity bill came to minus 384. I am very happy with this scheme of the government and I am also motivating more people to take advantage of this scheme of the government. Whoever are my relatives, my friends, my neighbors, so that they too can join this scheme and get maximum benefit. He thanks Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for this scheme and expresses gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai for the implementation of this scheme in the state.

It is worth mentioning that under this scheme, a subsidy of up to Rs 78 thousand will be provided to the beneficiary. With this scheme, the beneficiary will get up to 300 units of electricity free and the government will buy back the extra electricity produced, which will give the families an income of thousands of rupees every year and will also provide employment opportunities at the local level. Through this scheme, emphasis is also being laid on converting the food provider into energy provider by helping farmers to set up small scale solar plants in barren land.
