Bhopal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda is being celebrated as National Tribal Pride Day across the country. Tribal Pride Day is an honest effort to remove a major injustice of history. After independence, the contribution of the tribal class was not given the place in history, which they deserved. Tribal society is the one that made Prince Ram a God. Led the fight for hundreds of years to protect the culture and independence of India. In the decades after independence, an attempt was made to erase the invaluable contribution of the tribal class. There was selfish politics behind this. The Prime Minister said that for the overall welfare of the tribal society, many schemes are being run and work is being done for their economic and social development. Prime Minister Shri Modi was addressing the National Tribal Pride Day organized in Jamui district of Bihar on the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda.

Prime Minister Shri Modi said that on the 150th birth anniversary of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda, projects worth more than Rs 6 thousand crore have been inaugurated. This includes schools and hostels shaping the future of tribal children, health facilities for tribal women, hundreds of kilometres of roads connecting tribal areas, museums dedicated to tribal culture and acceptance letters for permanent houses have been distributed to 1.5 lakh tribal families. Also, today on the day of Dev Deepawali, more than 11 thousand tribal families have been given entry into their homes. Prime Minister Shri Modi virtually inaugurated Shri Badal Bhoi Tribal Freedom Fighter Museum in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh and Raja Shankar Shah and Raghunath Shah Freedom Fighter Museum in Jabalpur.

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in charge of Shahdol district Shri Rajendra Shukla, Minister of State for Cottage and Village Industries (Independent Charge) Shri Dilip Jaiswal, Sidhi MP Dr. Rajesh Mishra, Chairman Coal Development Authority Shri Ramlal Rotel and public representatives were present at the state level tribal pride day celebrations held at Shahdol district headquarters of Madhya Pradesh. Governor Shri Patel and Chief Minister Dr. Yadav inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. The guests were welcomed as per tribal tradition.

State government is doing excellent work for tribal welfare: Governor Shri Patel

Governor Shri Patel said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, unprecedented work is being done for tribal welfare in the entire country. PM Jan Man Yojana and Sickle Cell Eradication Mission are the Mahabhiyan of tribal welfare. In this Mahabhiyan, the state government is doing excellent work for tribal welfare. Effective efforts are continuously being made to bring the most backward tribes into the mainstream of development through many departments.

Governor Shri Patel said that it is a matter of good fortune for the state that the resolution of the sickle cell eradication mission was taken from the land of Madhya Pradesh. The central and state governments are carrying out intensive testing and awareness work towards sickle cell eradication. So far, sickle cell screening of 82 lakh people has been completed in the state. Governor Shri Patel, while taking information about the sickle cell testing work in Shahdol district, directed the officials to complete the work of sickle cell card distribution soon.

Governor Shri Patel said that the most effective way to prevent sickle cell is awareness about this disease. He said that before marriage, the boy and the girl must match their sickle cell cards. He said that the child’s sickle cell must be tested during pregnancy and even after birth. Governor Shri Patel appealed to everyone that sickle cell testing and awareness is the collective responsibility of all of us. Governor Shri Patel paid his respects to Lord Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary and also remembered the great revolutionaries and tribal sons of the state and the country. He expressed gratitude for the inauguration of Tribal Museum of Jabalpur and Chhindwara by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on the occasion of Tribal Pride Day.
