Tremendous jump in vehicle sales during festivals
The festive season has been good for the automobile industry, which was facing challenges on the sales front before Navratri. Strong vehicle sales during festivals like Dhanteras and Diwali after Navratri have helped automobile companies reduce inventory. Maruti Suzuki India’s total vehicle sales increased by four percent to 2,06,434 units in October. This is its highest monthly sales till date. The company’s senior executive officer (marketing-sales) Partho Banerjee said, due to good sales, the inventory of vehicles has reduced by 40,000. Mahindra & Mahindra’s total vehicle sales increased by 20 percent to 96,648 units. The SUV segment grew by 25 percent.
Reduction in supply
Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai have reduced supplies to authorized dealers during festivals to reduce stock.
Two-wheelers also surged
In the two-wheeler sector, Royal Enfield’s wholesale domestic sales grew 26 per cent to 1,01,886 units. TVS Motor Company’s two-wheeler sales grew 13 per cent to 3,90,489 units.
Strong demand for SUVs
Hyundai Motor India’s sales grew marginally to 55,568 units. The company’s Chief Operating Officer Tarun Garg said, we have sold 37,902 SUVs during the festive season. This is our highest monthly SUV sales so far.
Toyota Kirloskar’s vehicle sales grew from 20,542 to 28,138 units. JSW MG Motor India’s sales grew 31 per cent.
Tata Motors’ domestic passenger vehicle sales declined to 48,131 units.
