Virat Kohli first Indian to get 20+ crore salary in IPL
Discussions have started regarding IPL 2025. All 10 franchises have released the list of retained and released players. It was announced on Thursday. Royal Challengers Bangalore has retained only three players. These include the franchise’s veteran batsmen Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal. RCB has retained Virat for Rs 21 crore. At the same time, Rajat has been retained for Rs 11 crore and Yash for Rs 5 crore. Kohli can captain the next season. At the same time, the franchise will now target good bowlers in the mega auction. They will have three right to match cards in the auction.
Virat made a special record
With being retained for 21 crores, Virat became the first and only player from India to get a salary of more than Rs 20 crore in the IPL. So far, a total of five players have received a salary of more than Rs 20 crore in this league. Apart from Virat Kohli, this list includes South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen, Australia’s Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins and West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran. Three out of five players have received a salary of more than Rs 20 crore for IPL 2025. Apart from Virat, Sunrisers Hyderabad has retained Klaasen for Rs 23 crore and Lucknow Supergiants have retained Nicholas Pooran for Rs 21 crore. At the same time, Starc was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 24.75 crore and Sunrisers bought Cummins for Rs 20.5 crore in the auction for IPL 2024.
