Chennai Super Kings can retain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Rituraj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dubey and Mathisha Pathirana for IPL 2025. 43-year-old former CSK captain Dhoni can be retained as an uncapped player. It was decided in the apex council meeting that if an Indian player has not played for the national team in the last five calendar years, he will be considered an uncapped player. According to the official statement of IPL- If a capped Indian player has not played in the starting eleven in international cricket (Test match, ODI, T20 International) in the last five calendar years before the respective season is held or he does not have a central contract with BCCI, then he will become uncapped. This rule will apply only to Indian players.
