Raipur. SECR is having Bilaspur, Raipur & Nagpur Divisions which are actively involved in spreading use of Green Energy by adopting installation of Solar Power Plant, constructing new buildings complying ECBC (Energy Conservation Building Code) norms.
SECR has done enormous work in setting up Rooftop Solar Plants by utilizing available rooftop spaces of Railway platforms, service buildings, maintenance shed/shops etc.
SECR started with provision of 5KW Plant in 2010-11 and has installed 5451 KW Rooftop Solar Plants so far.These plants are generating 3.8 lakh units per month which result in saving of ₹10.1 lakhs per month that amounts to reduction of 315.2 tonne of CO2footprint per month
SECR has set up the biggest solar plant of Indian Railways at Bhilai which has a capacity of 50MW. Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has dedicated this plant to nation on 24.02.2024.The Solar energy generated is directly fed to the 220KV P.G.C.I.L Substation (at Kumhari) and transported toNorth Eastern Railway (Uttar Pradesh) and South western Railway (Karnataka) for Traction use.
This Plant is generating 69.6 lakh units of electricity per month which results in saving of ₹139.1 lakhs & reduction of 5690.5 tonne of CO2footprint per month.
In addition, works for installation of 7.8 MW Solar Plants at approximate cost of ₹34.6cr are under advance stage of sanction. The aim is to use every inch of available space to generate solar energy to contribute to growth of nation
