Adani Group’s Natural Gas-Green Hydrogen Blending Program Launched
Adani Group has started a program to blend green hydrogen in natural gas. The supply of gas mixed with green hydrogen in this natural gas has also started in some areas of Ahmedabad. Its aim is to reduce emissions and achieve the target of net zero.
The company issued a statement on social media.
Adani Total Gas Limited, a joint venture of French energy company Total Energies and Adani’s City Gas, has started blending 2.2-2.3 percent green hydrogen in natural gas. This mixed gas is being supplied to the houses in Shantigram area of Ahmedabad. The company has given this information in a post shared on LinkedIn. Hydrogen produced in a clean way is injected into natural gas pipelines and then this mixture is used to generate heat and electricity with low emissions.
How is green hydrogen made?
The company has started producing green hydrogen using renewable energy sources such as wind power and solar energy. Under this, water is separated into hydrogen and oxygen through electrolysis process. The hydrogen obtained after this process is mixed with natural gas. Now this mixed gas is being supplied to homes as cooking gas. The company said that right now hydrogen mixed gas is being supplied to four thousand domestic and commercial consumers.
The biggest project of the country so far
It is worth noting that right now hydrogen mixed natural gas was being supplied in Kawas area of Surat by the government energy company NTPC. Also, GAIL company is also supplying hydrogen mixed CNG in Indore. However, this project of Adani Group is the biggest project so far. The company plans to gradually take the mixture of green hydrogen in natural gas to five percent and then to eight percent. Also, there is a plan to start supply of this gas in other areas of Ahmedabad.
