Bangladesh veteran cricketer announces retirement from T20I

A two-match Test series is being played between India and Bangladesh. After this, a series of 3 T20 matches will be played between the two countries, but before the series, a heartbreaking news has come out for Bangladeshi cricket fans. In fact, Shakib Al Hasan, former captain of the Bangladesh cricket team and one of the world’s legendary all-rounders, has announced his retirement from T20 Internationals. Apart from this, he has also talked about retirement from Tests. However, it is not yet decided when he will play the last Test.

Shakib made this announcement when he was addressing the media in Kanpur ahead of the second Test against India starting on September 27. Shakib Al Hasan told that the T20 World Cup 2024 was his last tournament. Let us tell you that Shakib scored 2551 runs in a total of 129 T20I matches in his career, during which his strike rate was 121. However, he could not make much of an impact with the ball and he took a total of 149 wickets in 126 innings. He missed his 150-wicket mark by just one wicket. Shakib said that Bangladesh cricket has done a lot for him and I want to play my last Test match on my home ground. He also revealed that he has expressed his desire to the Bangladesh Cricket Board to let him play the last Test in Mirpur. If his demand for Mirpur is accepted then it is fine, otherwise the Test match to be played against India in Kanpur will be the last Test match of his career.
