Why heart patients should not drink too much water
The main function of our heart is to pump blood in the body. Due to blood pumping, nutrients and oxygen reach every organ. But people who have a weak heart, their heart is not able to do this work properly and due to not pumping body fluid effectively, it starts accumulating in many organs. If there is excess fluid in the body, it starts accumulating in the stomach, lungs and other places.
According to Dr. S.S. Sibia, cardiologists & director Sibia Medical Center, Ludhiana, heart patients should drink a certain amount of water. Drinking 1.5 to 2 liters of water per day is sufficient for a heart patient. Not only water but other liquids like milk, soup etc. should also be consumed in small quantities. As per the doctor’s advice, heart patients should keep an eye on every part of their body.
Sometimes swelling starts appearing in the knees or hands. This can be a sign of water accumulation in the body. Heart specialists ask heart patients to consume less salt. By limiting the intake of salt, the process of fluid accumulation can be reduced. Let us know about the dangers of drinking too much water.
The pumping capacity of the heart is reduced in heart patients. Due to this, if more water or fluid is consumed, the fluid is not completely expelled from the body and the problem of fluid overload arises. Due to this, swelling starts in the body and many other problems can arise.
Drinking too much water causes water to accumulate in the lungs, which causes difficulty in breathing. If water accumulates in the lungs, the ability to take oxygen is also affected, due to which cough, nervousness and many other problems can arise.
