Elephant Festival begins in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve
Bhopal. In Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, the stronghold of tigers, the management takes full care of other wild animals along with tigers. The seven-day “Elephant Festival” began today from Saturday in the presence of PCCF Wide Life V.N. Ambade at the Elephant Camp in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. The elephants were bathed and decorated in the morning and fed with various types of fruits, sugarcane, coconut and jaggery. In order to keep the elephants healthy, they will not be asked to do any work for a week.
In the daily routine of elephants for seven days, the elephants are bathed well in the morning and after that they are massaged with neem and castor oil. All the elephants are decorated and given their favorite dishes. After this, they are fed roti and left free to roam freely in the forest.
In the Elephant Festival in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, elephants are treated with special food for seven days. Elephants are given bananas, guavas, coconuts with water, sugarcane, seasonal fruits, corn and 10 rotis. One roti weighs one kilo. In the Elephant Festival, villagers from nearby areas reach Rama Camp of Tala Gate with their families and feed fruits to the elephants. They get to know about their daily routine by taking photographs with the elephants.
The purpose of the Elephant Festival of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve Management is to give rest to the elephants and their mahouts. Along with this, the villagers should also get acquainted with elephants and their behavior. For this, everyone is allowed entry in the Elephant Festival. This festival also aims to remove the misconceptions about forest animals in rural areas.
