Efforts for Gram Sabha empowerment under “PESA Act” are necessary: Patel
Bhopal. Governor Mangubhai Patel has said that to make the Gram Sabhas effective under PESA, the possibilities of providing them handholding support should be examined. The provisions of PESA Act should be successfully used by all the Gram Sabhas. The community should move forward with everyone equally on the path of development. In this regard, initiatives should be taken at the departmental level for public awareness along with public awareness.
Governor Shri Patel was discussing in the review meeting of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department held at the Raj Bhavan. Minister of State for Panchayat and Rural Development Mrs. Radha Singh was also present.
Governor Shri Patel has said that continuity of the work of supervision, inspection and exploration is necessary to maintain the pace of development. He said that for the effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, along with inspection of the construction work, supervision of the use of the allocated amount is also necessary. Along with this, ground realities and solutions to practical difficulties should also be explored to improve the designing, air and light arrangements of the house. He also reviewed the effective implementation of PESA Act. He said that special emphasis should be laid on the empowerment efforts of Gram Sabha under PESA Act. Gram Sabhas should be motivated to use their rights. It is important that the work of Gram Sabha empowerment should be done in a planned manner with a positive attitude and new ideas.
Governor Shri Patel said that efforts with full concentration are needed to achieve the goal of TB elimination by the year 2025. He has asked to expand the Nishkshay Mitra Yojana for the availability of nutritious food to TB patients. In this work, instructions have been given to coordinate with business and commercial organizations. While discussing the development efforts of special backward tribes, he said that Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyay Maha Abhiyan (PM Janman) is an unprecedented initiative. The intention of the scheme is to make the life of special backward tribes happy. For the success of the scheme, it is necessary that development works should be done with a sensitive approach and qualitative quality.
In the meeting, Governor Shri Patel was told that Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country to complete the first road and housing under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana. As per the instructions of the department, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for supervision and inspection of the houses being built under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana will also be prepared.
