Fishermen should get the benefits of schemes easily: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that it should be ensured that the benefits of the schemes being implemented for fishermen are easily available to them. Make efforts to realize the concept of prosperous farmer. There are great possibilities in the Fishermen Welfare and Fisheries Development Department. To increase the income and business of fishermen, studies should be done in other states and outside the country as well. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed to organize a fisherman panchayat at the Chief Minister’s residence. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was reviewing the Fishermen Welfare and Fisheries Development Department in the Ministry today. Minister of State for Fishermen Welfare and Fisheries Development Narayan Singh Panwar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Chief Minister’s Office Dr. Rajesh Rajoura and senior departmental officials were present in the meeting.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that more and more people should get employment from fisheries. Fish seed production, extension, fishermen training, Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, Chief Minister Fishermen Samridhi Yojana etc. are being run in the department. Fish seed and fish production is being done in rural ponds, irrigation reservoirs, reservoirs of Matsya Sangh. There are 96 thousand 752 fishermen cooperative societies in the department. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav gave directions to register the beneficiaries of other backward classes in the committees. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the construction of Aqua Park in Bhopal should be completed on time. This action should be ensured keeping in mind the convenience of tourists. The number of seed hatchery units in the state should be increased. The private sector should also be linked to it.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that a future action plan should be prepared for fish production. He said that water structures should be prepared keeping in mind projects like Ken-Betwa, Parvati-Kali Sindh. Madhya Pradesh ranks first in the country in distribution of Kisan Credit Card. Chief Minister Yadav said that a better plan should be prepared to increase fish production continuously. Efforts should be made to increase revenue from fish production.

Achievements of the department

In 6 months from 1 December 2023 to 31 May 2024, 2 lakh 23 thousand tonnes of fish have been produced in the department. Apart from this, 18.56 crore standard fry fish seeds have also been produced. In the year 2023-24, 11.74 percent more fish production has been done as compared to last year. In the year 2023-24, 3.82 lakh metric tonnes of fish production took place. This is the highest in the past years. 4.40 lakh hectares of water area in the state is included under fisheries.
