SSP honored the Good Samaritans (good people) who saved the lives of the injured in road accidents

Traffic Raipur 20 August 2024 Good Samaritans (good people) who came forward and saved the lives of the injured in road accidents occurring on National Highway, State Highway and other roads under Raipur district were honored by SSP Raipur Santosh Kumar Singh by giving them a certificate and shield and also appealed to keep helping the injured. Let us tell you that for the prevention of road accidents and quick treatment to the injured, the Honorable Supreme Court has directed to encourage and reward the persons who provide quick medical facilities to the injured in road accidents by calling them Good Samaritans i.e. good people. Following which, SSP Raipur Santosh Kumar Singh honors the Good Samaritans (good people) who save lives by helping the injured in road accidents every month by giving them a certificate and shield. In this sequence, today on 20th August 2024, 04 Good Samaritans who saved the lives of the injured in road accidents were honored in a program organized at the Police Ground.

Let us tell you that about one and a half lakh people die in road accidents every year in the country, the main reason for which is due to the injured not getting immediate medical facilities. During a road accident, the first 30 minutes after the accident is the golden hour for the injured, during this time if the injured person is taken to the hospital in any way or medical facility is provided, then in 90% of the cases the life of the injured can be saved. But in today’s time, most of the people do not take any measures to save the life of the injured person in order to avoid getting into legal trouble, due to which the injured person dies in agony at the spot due to lack of treatment. Keeping this in view, Senior Superintendent of Police, District Raipur, Shri Santosh Kumar Singh has directed all the station in-charges of the district to promote Good Samaritans as much as possible for providing immediate assistance to the injured in a road accident occurring in the police station area and to encourage and reward the Good Samaritans who save lives by providing immediate assistance to the injured.

In the same sequence, on 20th August 2024, Good Samaritans who helped the injured in various road accidents occurring in Raipur district were honored by Senior Superintendent of Police, District Raipur, Shri Santosh Kumar Singh by giving memento and citation letter and were also directed to promote them by putting posters on big hoardings in the main roads and intersections of the city. The Good Samaritans who helped the injured in road accidents are as follows:-

*01.* Shri Lilak Dhrtlahare father Shri Radhelal Dhrtlahare age 24 years, village Munagi police station Mandir Hasaud district Raipur played an important role in saving the life of the injured person in a road accident on 14.07.2024 by immediately calling dial 112 and calling ambulance and sending him to the hospital for treatment.

*02.* Shri Dharmendra Singh Negi father Shri Hayat Singh Negi age 51 years, Ashoka Ratan, police station Khamhardih Raipur played an important role in saving the life of the injured person in a road accident under Shankar Nagar Bridge on 30.07.2024 by immediately calling dial 112 and calling ambulance and sending him to the hospital for treatment.

*03.* Mr. Hemant Devangan father Mr. Santosh Devangan, age 21 years, village Tarri, police station Gobra Navapara, district Raipur, played an important role in saving the life of a person injured in a road accident near village Torla Bhurka Mod on 03.07.2024 by immediately calling dial 112 and calling ambulance and sending the injured person to the hospital for treatment.

*04.* Mr. Anoop Sahu father Mr. Basant Sahu, age 45 years, village Bhendri, police station Gobra Navapara, district Raipur, played an important role in saving the life of a person injured in a road accident near village Torla Bhurka Mod on 03.07.2024 by immediately calling dial 112 and calling ambulance and sending the injured person to the hospital for treatment.

All the above Good Samaritans were appreciated by Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Santosh Kumar Singh for helping the injured and encouraged them to help the injured in this way in future as well. Also, to appreciate the excellent work done by these noble people and to publicise it as much as possible, huge hoardings were made and installed near the city’s railway station, bus stand, Marine Drive, Telibandha pond, Collectorate gate.
