Fisherman’s Day will be celebrated on 10th July in the state. In this regard, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Fishermen Welfare and Fisheries Development, Shri Narayan Singh Panwar has congratulated the fishermen. He has said in his message that by encouraging fish farming in the state, employment is being provided to a large number of needy people. Last year, the target of producing 3 lakh 42 thousand metric tonnes of fish was achieved in the state. He said that the target of producing 3 lakh 90 thousand metric tonnes of fish in the state will be achieved in the coming year through the cooperative societies of fishermen.

Minister of State Shri Panwar said in his message that concrete efforts are being made to bring economic revolution in the state through Blue Revolution. For this, more and more people are being encouraged for fish farming. The state government is paying special attention to increasing the processing, marketing and storage capacity of fish along with fish farming. Minister of State Mr. Panwar said that the state government has launched a special campaign to bring fishermen and fish farmers under the purview of Kisan Credit Card. Through this campaign, loans are being made available to them at cheap rates. With the availability of this facility, the fishermen of the state can avoid getting trapped in the hands of moneylenders and middlemen.

Roadmap for the year 2024-25 prepared for fish production promotion

The department has prepared a roadmap in the year 2024-25 to increase fish production in the state. Through the roadmap, places are being identified for new possibilities of fish production in the state. Concrete efforts are being made by the department to make natural ponds and water structures suitable for fish farming.

Programs will be held at the district level

Fisherman’s Day will be organized at the district level on July 10 in the state. Fishermen and fish farmers will be informed about modern techniques. On 10 July 1957, Dr. Hiralal Chaudhary successfully bred Safar fish for the first time in CIFA Bhubaneswar. This was such a remarkable work that a new revolution came in the field of fish farming. This revolution was named Blue Revolution. This revolution has linked millions of people in the country to fish farming. For this achievement, Fisherman’s Day is celebrated every year on 10 July in the country.
