Saunik becomes first woman Chief Secretary of Maharashtra
Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Sujata Saunik on Sunday became the first woman Chief Secretary of Maharashtra. She replaced Dr. Nitin Kareer. Ms. Saunik is a 1987 batch officer.
An official statement said that Ms. Saunik said that she would try to implement the strategic decisions taken in the ongoing monsoon session of the Assembly to provide justice to farmers, women, children and youth.
Additional Chief Secretary Nitin Gadre, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Bhushan Gagrani, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Vikas Kharge, Additional Chief Secretary Anoop Kumar and Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajagopal Deora were also present on the occasion.
