Raipur. On the initiative of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, there will be greenery around the centers of faith in Bastar region in the coming days. Tree plantation will be done by running a special campaign in these centers of faith of the region. Tribal communities will also be made partners in this campaign of tree plantation.

It is worth noting that the tribal community and other traditional forest dwellers have unwavering faith in water, forest and land as well as Sevi-Arji sites. Trees around Dev-Mata Gudi site are considered equal to deities, there is a tradition of preserving the trees and plants located at the Gudi site.

In this plantation campaign, apart from tree plantation around 7055 Devgudi-Mataguri of Bastar region, trees will be planted at 3455 Forest Rights Recognition Certificate sites. The total area of ​​all these areas is 2607.200 hectares. Apart from Devgudi and Matagudi, trees will also be planted around ancient monuments etc. Here, fruit-bearing, shady plants such as neem, mango, jamun, karji, amaltas plants as well as other plants will be planted as per the suggestions of the villagers.

A strategy has been prepared by the Bastar Commissioner to plant 5.62 lakh saplings in 7 districts of Bastar region. He has given the responsibility of nodal officer to the Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayats for tree plantation work in all the seven districts. He has said that on the day of tree plantation in Bastar region, Gram Pramukh, Baiga, Sirha, Perma, Manjhi, Chalki, Gunia, Gayta, Pujari, Patel, Bajania, Atpahariya and public representatives should be invited. He has set a target to complete the plantation work by July 15, 2024 with the cooperation of the Forest Department. Collectors have been instructed to continuously monitor the tree plantation work.

It may be recalled that 3455 Community Forest Rights Certificates have been provided to the Gram Sabhas in the name of deities under Section 3(1)(5) of the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 for the conservation and promotion of Matagudi, Devgudi, Gotul, ancient memorials of the dead, service-application sites, centres of faith and living traditions established in Bastar division. And 3600 Devgudi, Matagudi, ancient memorials of the dead and Gotul sites located in non-forest areas have been entered in the revenue records.
