Impact of Bengal rail accident, Central East Railway changes rules
Taking a lesson from the Kanchenjunga Express accident, Central East Railway (ECR) has instructed the station masters of its area not to issue Form T/A 912, which gives train drivers the right to cross the signal in case of a malfunction in the automatic signal system. This instruction has been issued just a few days after 10 people died in the Kanchenjunga Express-freight train collision.
The ban will remain in force till further orders
According to the order issued by the Central East Railway on June 21, the decision to stop issuing T/A 912 letters was taken in the security meeting of the Central East Railway. ECR said, ‘In the security meeting held by the General Manager of Central East Railway with the Principal Departmental Head and DRM (Divisional Railway Manager), it has been decided that T/A 912 will not be issued till further advice during the failure of automatic signal.’
