The Reserve Bank of India has approved the appointment of Pradeep Kumar Sinha as part-time chairman of ICICI Bank. Sinha is set to take over the role for a three-year tenure starting July 1, 2024.
Pradeep Kumar Sinha will replace GC Chaturvedi, who is scheduled to retire as non-executive part-time chairman after business hours on June 30, 2024. Sinha has been a government nominated director in many major public sector undertakings like ONGC, IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, GAIL etc. Notably, he served on the Board of Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) for about 7 years and similarly on the Boards of BPCL and HPCL for about 6 years.
He worked in the ministries of power and oil and gas for about 15 years. He has served as Financial Advisor and Special Secretary, Petroleum and Natural Gas; Secretary, Ports and Shipping; And has served as Secretary, Electricity. He has expertise in the areas of energy, infrastructure, transportation, urban development and finance.
