Lucknow Supergiants got a big blow, fast bowler is out
Lucknow Supergiants and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are to face each other on Sunday, but before that the team has got a big blow. Lucknow fast bowler Mayank Yadav will not be able to take part in the league stage of the current season of IPL due to an injury in the lower abdominal muscle. Mayank was injured during the match against Mumbai Indians due to which there was doubt about his playing further matches. Mayank has been injured for the second time in the last four weeks.
Langer confirmed Mayank’s exit
Before the match against KKR, Lucknow head coach Justin Langer confirmed Mayank Yadav’s exit from the IPL. Regarding Mayank’s fitness, Langer said, we will pray that he can play. Hopefully, if we reach the playoffs, Mayank will be fit by that time and will be available to play. Although I don’t think he will be able to play in the tournament. Mayank has been scanned. He got hurt at the same place where he was hurt earlier. This is unfortunate. Mayank also spoke to Jasprit Bumrah who explained to him that injuries are a part of a fast bowler’s career.
Mayank could not even complete his spell in two matches.
Mayank was injured during the match against Gujarat Titans and left the field after bowling just one over. After this, he made a comeback from the match played against Mumbai last Tuesday, but he got injured in his stomach muscles and had to go out. Mayank, who bowled at a speed of 155 kmph in IPL 2024, could not even complete his quota of four overs in two matches. According to media reports, Mayank has suffered a Grade-1 injury which does not take much time to recover. If Lucknow Supergiants is successful in qualifying for the playoffs, Mayank may be available to play the knockout matches.
