54th Shalaka Tribal Painting Exhibition begins, will continue till 30th October
Bhopal. The Tribal Museum is providing a meaningful platform to the tribal painters of the state for exhibition and sale of their paintings. Every month, an exhibition cum sale of one tribal painter is organized in the ‘Likhandara Exhibition Gallery’. In this painting exhibition platform organized in the name of ‘Shalaka’, an exhibition cum sale of paintings of well-known painter of Gond community, Ms. Santoshi Shyam, was organized from Thursday (3rd October). The 54th Shalaka Painting Exhibition will continue till 30th October (Tuesday to Sunday).
Young painter of Gond tribe, Ms. Santoshi Shyam was born in Patnagarh of tribal dominated Dindori district of Madhya Pradesh, but was brought up and educated in Bhopal. Her father Shri Narmada Prasad Tekam was a renowned Gond painter, who comes from the family of late Jangarh Singh Shyam.
Ms. Santoshi Shyam has participated in many solo and joint painting exhibitions. She has received ‘Kalidas Samman’ and some other awards for her best painting. Ms. Santoshi gives the credit of her success to her father Mr. Narmada Prasad Tekam, whose constant inspiration helped her hone her painting skills. Live depiction of wild animals and birds is prominently seen in Ms. Shyam’s paintings.
